No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
